Collingwood General and Marine Hospital
CGMH Obstetrics Department Re-Opens Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m.

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) faced an unexpected temporary closure of its Obstetrics Unit during the day on Monday, June 10. The Obstetrics Unit resumed operations on Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. However, the hospital is planning for an additional closure on Tuesday, June 11, between 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., due to ongoing staff illness and challenges in filling shifts.

“While we made every effort to find replacement staff, CGMH’s Obstetrical Unit is a small team with a specialized skillset, and unfortunately, we have not been able to fill tomorrow’s day shift,” says Michael Lacroix, CGMH President and CEO. “CGMH is dedicated to transparency, and we are sharing this information to ensure that patients have time to prepare and make necessary arrangements for tomorrow.”

Expectant families in need of immediate care during the evening/overnight hours are encouraged to proceed to CGMH, where the Obstetrics Unit will be fully operational until 7:00 a.m. Alternatively, patients may seek assistance at nearby hospitals such as RVH in Barrie, Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia, or Brightshores in Owen Sound.

CGMH acknowledges the disruptions that these closures may pose for expecting families and expresses gratitude for the community's understanding and support during this challenging period.
