Service Description: Ontario Works (OW) provides income support to assist with cost of basic needs like food, clothing and shelter as well as health benefits for people in temporary financial need.
 
Emergency Assistance is also available to people who are in a crisis or in an emergency situation (e.g. people who have lost their homes, are leaving an abusive relationship, and/or, are worried about their safety)

Application: Call 1-888-999-1142 or complete an on-line application at Ontario Works

The following will be required for each family member:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Ontario Health Card Number
  • Address details and phone number
  • Bank account information, specifically a direct deposit form
  • Employment history
  • Housing documentation, such as rental letter or mortgage statement and all utility information
  • Verification of any assets owned (i.e. vehicles, RSP’s, life insurance or any investments)
  • Income from earnings and other sources (i.e. child support, school verification, Canadian Pension, Employment Insurance)
  • List of community services you are linked to
  • Immigration documents, if applicable
  • Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Adults and youth 16-65 years in financial need who meet eligibility requirements
