Service Description: Family birthing centre

Preadmission consultation with a nurse to discuss birthing plan and medical history  * birthing services include 24 hour obstetrical consultant coverage, co-operative arrangements with midwives, 24 hour infant rooming-in

Mother/Baby Care Unit - Post-delivery nursing care for mothers and their new babies * mothers and babies are kept together in same room whenever possible

Sibling Tours - For children 3-6 years old who are expecting a sibling * allows children to become familiar with the hospital and newborns * classes are held on Saturdays once a month from 10am-11am * no charge * call main number to book a tour

Home Safety Program - New parents provided with a safety checklist and nine-piece safety kit
 
Period of Purple Crying Education Program - Helps parents and caregivers understand the features of normal crying patterns in infants to prevent shaken baby syndrome
