Service Description: Independent body created by the provincial government conducts hearings under the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act, the Substitute Decisions Act and the Mandatory Blood Testing Act * tribunal works to balance the rights of individuals with public safety * judges matters of capacity, consent, civil committal, substitute decision making and personal health information

Holds hearings and makes decisions on issues such as:
  • A person's involuntary admission to a psychiatric facility under the Mental Health Act
  • A person's capacity to consent to or refuse treatment under the Health Care Consent Act
  • A person's incapacity to manage property under the Substitute Decisions Act
