Service Description: Pre-admission clinic nurse educates patients about their upcoming operation and hospital stay and what to expect when they return home * assesses current health status, reviews medical history, answers questions, provides specific instructions and performs tests as ordered * education is individualized to patient's needs and may:
  • also be referred to anesthesia and medical consults
  • also see physiotherapist or occupational therapist, blood conservation, surgical service nurse practitioner, social work or research study nurse receive services by telephone if eligible
 
Perioperative Patient Blood Management Program (PPBMP) - Program helps patients who will be having an operation to increase their hemoglobin (red blood cells) and thereby decrease, or completely avoid, the need for blood transfusion
