Service Description: Programs and services that work to reduce the risk of injury, chronic disease and improve health

Dental Health - Dental preventative services for qualifying children and youth 17 years of age and younger * includes:
  • cleanings
  • sealants
  • fluoride treatments
other services offered include:
  • oral screenings for Healthy Smiles Ontario
  • fluoride varnish applications in pre-school and elementary school settings


Food and Healthy Eating - Eating is about more than food and can look different from person to person. Choose foods for enjoyment, culture, preferences, traditions, budget, health, and celebrations:
  • Enjoy a variety of foods, including foods found in Canada’s Food Guide
  • Include plant-based foods like beans, peas, pulses, vegetables, and fruits
  • Pay attention to when you feel hungry and full
  • Cook and eat with others more often
Canada’s Food Guide can help you:
  • Lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, and osteoporosis
  • Have a healthy pregnancy and baby
  • Provide the nutrients your children need to grow and develop
  • Have more energy and feel good


Parenting - Website with information about everyday parenting concerns, parenting styles, growth and development of children and parenting groups and classes * videos and interactive tools

Safety - Website with tips for keeping children and adults safe * programs and education for the community regarding injury prevention

Smoke-Free Ontario and Tobacco Control - Enforces the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 through inspections of enclosed workplaces, public places, schools and other places that are required to be smoke- and vapour-free * regulates the sale, supply, use, display, and promotion of tobacco and vapour products (e.g., vapes, e-cigarettes, and e-substances), and the smoking and vaping of cannabis

Tobacco Quit Clinic (The) - Monthly workshops for people who want to quit smoking and are able to use nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) * workshops include a one-hour group presentation and an appointment with a Cessation Specialist who will provide 5 weeks of free NRT product and individualized advice/support
