Grey Bruce Health Unit Receives Accreditation with Commendation
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is Accredited with Commendation under the Qmentum accreditation program by Accreditation Canada. In its written decision, the Accreditation Decision Committee congratulates the organization for its commitment to providing safe, high quality health services.
Accreditation Canada undertook a preliminary assessment of the Health Unit followed up by surveyors conducting a rigorous on-site survey from September 8 – 12. The surveyors looked at areas of leadership, governance, clinical programs and service delivery comparing those against Accreditation Canada standards for quality and safety.
“It is evident that Grey Bruce Health Unit staff and managers are committed to providing exceptional care and are moving to more community-focused work using the multidisciplinary team approach. This approach is new and the organization is planning staff education around the change management process to ensure understanding. Ultimately, clients and communities will benefit from this approach.” according to the survey team’s summary.
Accreditation Canada provides an external peer review process to assess and improve services based on standards of excellence. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).
