United Way Oxford Announces Record Breaking Campaign

The Everyday Heroes of Oxford County took centre stage as United Way Campaign Co-Chairs Kristi Cross and Chris Friesen announced a record breaking campaign achievement of $1,120,000.

“The success of this Campaign confirms the passion and commitment of our everyday heroes – the volunteers, donors, agency partners, union and corporate supporters that come together to create a real difference in Oxford County,” said Cross. “Their efforts to support the work of United Way, builds our community.”

In 2013/14, 58 local programs and services received financial support from United Way Oxford. In addition, United Way was a strong partner in community collaborations lending expertise, networking opportunities and support to various initiatives including the newly formed Oxford Poverty Action Coalition, United Way Youth Leadership Council and the Oxford County Immigration Portal.

“The need in our community is real,” states Friesen. “When you see the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors come together, the results are truly remarkable. We are helping our families, friends and neighbours. The generosity of our community makes me proud to be a resident of Oxford County. All I can say is thank you for being an Everyday Hero.”

As part of the evening’s celebrations, United Way presented spirit awards to organizations and individuals that showed exceptional commitment to the 2013 Campaign. Woodstock Hospital took home the Award of Excellence while Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada captured the Corporate Support Award for the 5th straight year.
