St Mary's Memorial Hospital Site of Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Installs State-of-the-Art Digital X-Ray Suite
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance's (HPHA) St Mary's Memorial Hospital Site is preparing for the installation of our new DX-D 600 Automatic Digital X-ray Suite. This state-of-the-art technology will be used for a wide range of imaging exams from chest, abdomen, spine and extremity work, for Emergency and Ambulatory Clinic patients and in-patients. The project starts on April 16, 2014 with the closing of the existing room. Construction, room preparation, installation and training are expected to be completed June 6.
"We are all very excited about this new technology which will improve workflow, decrease exam times and increase image quality. Immediate image availability also reduces patients waiting times," says Diane Smith, HPHA Manager of Medical Imaging. The ceiling-suspended system is Afga HealthCare's top-of-the-line direct digital X-ray room.
According to Ms. Smith, while there will be some disruption and redirecting of elective, non-urgent patients, plans have been put in place to minimize the inconvenience and ensure needs are met. "It will be well worth the wait for completion with this new technology strengthening St Marys site's digital imaging capability."
A new Afga DX-D 100 portable digital x-ray unit that produces high quality images is on site in St Marys to ensure essential patient needs are met during the transition. Patients requiring non-urgent or elective imaging exams will be directed to Stratford General Site's Imaging Department for the duration of the installation. Physician offices, Emergency Services, nursing homes and other healthcare providers have been informed of the installation timeline.
The implementation schedule at St Marys Memorial will be as follows:
- Existing removal: April 16-17
- Room construction: April 22-May 16
- Installation and configuration: May 20-30
- Applications training: June 2-6
