Active transportation in Huron: What do you think?

The Huron County Health Unit is looking for your input on an active transportation plan for Huron County. Active transportation is any method of going from one place to another using your own body. This could include walking, cycling, kayaking, or cross country skiing. An active transportation plan is a long-term strategy to create environments that encourage people to move more.

“This is an opportunity for people to talk about what they would like to see in their communities in terms of active transportation, both in the near and distant future,” says Laura Dekroon, Public Health Promoter with the Huron County Health Unit. The plan provides recommendations for politicians, businesses and individuals that would improve active transportation throughout Huron County.

There will be two open public meetings to discuss the draft active transportation plan. Dekroon encourages all community members to take part. “This is for all of us as citizens, so I hope everyone who is interested in creating a healthy community will come out.”

Meetings:

  • Tuesday, May 6 at 7 pm, Goderich YMCA
  • Thursday, May 8 at 7 pm, Huron County Health Unit - Clinton

Please RSVP to ldekroon@huroncounty.ca. If you have questions about this event, please call the Huron County Health Unit at 519-482-3416 or 1-877-837-6143.
