London, Ont. – On Thursday March 28th, 2002,
the leadership of the Community Care Access
Centre of London Middlesex, London Health
Sciences Centre, Middlesex-London Health Unit,
St. Joseph’s Health Care, London and the Thames
Valley District Health Council will officially launch
www.thehealthline.ca, a new health web portal
designed to help people find local health care
services.
The initiative partners, called The Health Line
Alliance, came together in 1998 with the shared
vision of an all-inclusive source of local health
services information, designed to guide health
care consumers through a maze of options.
“With over 550 local health services to choose
from, finding the one that best meets your needs
can be difficult,” says Megan Cornwell, Managing
Editor for thehealthline.ca. “People turn to
the Internet for health services information. We
want to make their searching easier."
"Thehealthline.ca is a single access point
through which consumers and health care
professionals alike will find accurate service
information about most local health care
providers.”
In addition to a comprehensive directory of health
and health-related services, programs and
organizations serving London Middlesex,
thehealthline.ca also features local health
news, an events calendar and health sector career
postings. A special feature, The Health Diary,
profiles the experiences of local individuals with
various health care providers.
“For the partnering organizations it is a unique
and exciting opportunity to work together – using
technology to create a comprehensive resource
linking consumers to the wealth of local health
care resources available to them,” adds Cornwell.
