Celebrating Nurses – Best Practice Means Best Care

Grey Bruce celebrates National Nursing Week, May 12-14, by highlighting nursing excellence. The Grey Bruce Health Unit is proud to partner with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) with a showcase of leading-edge nursing practice.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is welcoming nurses from across the region to a Best Practice Champion Open House. Best Practices are internationally recognized research-based guidelines for clinical practice. The Open House gives nurses a chance to share with their colleagues and learn more about evidence-based nursing practice and the role of the nurse in the changing health care system. Best Practice means improving results for clients across Grey Bruce, be it in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or in the client’s own home, through consistent and quality care. The celebration of nursing includes an overview of innovative approaches that have a positive impact on client’s health and well-being.

The celebration of nursing includes an overview of the five Best Practice Guidelines at the Grey Bruce Health Unit: Breastfeeding, Client-Centred Care, Postpartum Depression Interventions, Prevention of Falls in Older Adults, and Prevention of Childhood Obesity. Best Practices represent innovative approaches that have a positive impact on client’s health and well-being.

“Best practice means best care.” says Coordinator, Linda Davies. “We are working with RNAO towards becoming a Best Practice Spotlight Organization and the Guidelines lead to improved outcomes for our clients by applying the best evidence to our work.”
