Don’t Want to Miss Opportunity for Dementia Education with Teepa Snow Coming to Perth & Huron Counties!
Teepa Snow is a well-known occupational therapist from North Carolina who will be visiting Ontario for the first time on June 16, 17 & 18, 2014. Teepa works as a dementia care and dementia education specialist with over 33 years of clinical experience in the field of geriatrics and dementia care. Teepa will be presenting five interactive and creative educational and practical hands-on training sessions to local health care professionals working in long-term care, hospital and community settings, to family members learning to cope with the affects dementia has on their lives and to individuals interested in learning more about supporting persons living with dementia.
Together with the Huron-Perth Provider Table, the Alzheimer Societies of Perth County and Huron County are offering five sessions that include: Best Practices in Dementia Care: Using positive approaches to provide support and care that works; The ABCs of Dementia and Caregiving: the essentials for good care; Learning to let it go & live in the here and now; Care for People with Developmental Disabilities when Dementia is part of the picture; Managing Behaviour: Start with yourself.
Teepa is committed to building a program of support and care that provides a just right match between what the person needs, is able to do, the environment and care partners. Participants in the upcoming training sessions will be inspired to meet the person with dementia where he/she is at in order to assist the person to live well with dementia. Participants will gain a better understanding of the impact of dementia and strategies to enhance their practice in caring for individuals living with dementia. This is a don’t want to miss education event that is also very affordable!
