Only Four Days Left to Give Generously to the Curb Hunger Food Drive!

We're halfway through the 18th annual London Cares Curb Hunger Food Drive and The Food Bank needs the help of Londoners.  So far there has been a total of 16,000 pounds of food collected. Based on previous year’s donations from Londoners, the goal this year is to collect 65,000 lbs of non-perishable food items and we can’t do it without you!

“We knew going into the drive the provincial election would have an impact on the response.  We had a similar experience a few years ago when two such events coincided.  We encourage the good citizens of London to vote and give to the food drive during this important period in London’s history.  Defeating hunger should be part of any public policy agenda and the Curb Hunger food drive is one way we express our collective will to keep families from going hungry,” said Glen Pearson, Co-Executive Director of the London Food Bank.

“We need Londoners help in our final days to stock the shelves at the Food Bank with much needed food items for the summer months ahead,” highlights Jay Stanford, Director, Environment, Fleet & Solid Waste for the City of London. “Londoners have always been generous with food donations and we hope they can rise to the occasion again.”

It's easy - Londoners have 3 choices.  Until Saturday, June 14th, Londoners can buy extra non-perishable food donations and leave them at their neighbourhood grocery store, bring items to any Tim Hortons location, or they can place their donations in a bag tied with a ribbon and set-out beside their Blue Box in the morning of their recycling day. This is a necessary service for those who need a helping hand to get through difficult periods of their life. Dropping off food donations has never been easier with over 65 locations found at Tim Horton locations and local grocery stores.

For those that like the convenience of curbside service, the City’s recycling contractor Miller Waste and volunteer crews will collect the food donations placed beside the Blue Box . 100% of these donations go to the London Food Bank.

The following is the remaining curbside schedule for this year’s Food Drive:

Wednesday, June 12             Zone C
Thursday, June 13                 Zone D
Friday, June 14                      Zone E
