MedLINCS Program 2014 Begins!
The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University has developed MedLINCS, a strategic collaborative program encouraging students from rural Southwestern Ontario to consider careers in rural healthcare. In Huron-Perth, the program is coordinated by HealthKick and will be hosted at the Huron East Health Centre in Seaforth (directly behind the Seaforth Community Hospital).
The MedLINCS program gives 22 grade 10 and 11 students from across Huron and Perth the opportunity to explore a variety of healthcare-related fields that they may consider pursuing at a post-secondary level. During the five-day program (July 7-11), the students will participate in hands-on activities related to healthcare and meet with professionals to learn about individual occupations.
The students will also spend a day job-shadowing healthcare professionals throughout Huron and Perth Counties, gaining firsthand experience in the fields that interest them. The job shadows include a variety of professions.
