Free Outdoor Movie Night Presented by Huron County Health Unit, Wingham Homecoming 2014

Families are invited to a free outdoor movie night at the Wingham Splash Pad on Saturday, August 2.

The Huron County Health Unit, in partnership with Wingham Homecoming 2014, will present “The LEGO Movie” as part of a tobacco-free event at the William Street splash pad in Wingham. Activities promoting tobacco-free living, including button making and a trivia wheel, begin at 8:30 pm. The movie begins at approximately 9 pm. Please bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.

This tobacco-free, family-oriented event brings attention to the role of media messaging and tobacco use.

“Most movies with smoking are rated for kids and teens,” says Public Health Promoter Samantha Docherty. “These movies can have a big influence on kids to start smoking and this helps the tobacco industry recruit a new generation of customers.”

The Wingham Scouts will sell refreshments at the event and youth volunteers will gather public support to address smoking in movies rated for children and youth.

The free movie will take place rain or shine. The rain location is the Maitland River Community Church on 414 Josephine Street in Wingham.
