St Joseph's Health Care London
145 Year Legacy Coming to an End: St. Joseph’s marks the end of an era as they begin another

Come take a nostalgic horse and carriage ride down the iconic Avenue of Trees and explore the history of the Era of the Avenue. This community celebration commemorates mental health care at the Highbury Ave. site that began with the opening of the London Asylum for the Insane in 1870.

In addition to horse and carriage rides, guests can visit historic sites, such as inside the Chapel of Hope (c. 1884) and the exterior of the remains of the first hospital (c.1903); as well an extensive history exhibit, presented by Museum London that will take place in the recreation hall (c. 1920). Participants will also experience old-time music, vintage cars and refreshments.

St. Joseph’s invites everyone to remember the deep history of mental health care at 850 Highbury Ave. before the opening of the new Mental Health Care Building at what will be Parkwood Institute this November.
