Ideal Supply Bus Tour Launches 2014 United Way Campaign Across Perth and Huron Counties: Goal Announced at $1,170,000
Thanks to Ideal Supply and Cherrey Bus Lines, United Way Perth-Huron had the amazing opportunity to share their ambitious 2014 fundraising goal through a bus tour across Perth and Huron.
The Ideal Supply Bus Tour started in Stratford and traveled to each of the 7 Ideal Supply locations across Perth and Huron Counties; Stratford, Mitchell, St. Marys, Exeter, Goderich, Wingham and Listowel. In each location Ideal Supply staff graciously hosted the United Way as they shared their enthusiasm for the campaign.
At each stop, the goal of $1,170,000 was announced by Executive Director Ryan Erb alongside campaign co-chairs Chief John Bates and Wayne Smith as well as staff and volunteers. This year’s goal is $55,000 more than last year’s goal of $1,115,000, and $19,000 more than last year’s total raised of $1,151,061.
But, it was not about the lofty goal that affected those in attendance, it was the stories of the agencies who benefit from United Way dollars that made the difference. Speakers from One Care, Emily Murphy Centre, YMCA, Family Services, St. Marys Youth Centre, Huron Safe Homes for Youth and Huron County Food Distribution Centre shared moving stories of the harsh reality that many individuals face in our community.
Mary Ellen Zielman, Executive Director of Huron County Food Distribution Centre “In a community where we believe we have plenty, there are so many that go without; our neighbours, our friends, our children, every year the number of people who need assistance continues to grow.”
Chief John Bates, the Perth Campaign Co-Chair said. “United Way is a substantive Community Builder, I am pleased and privileged to represent this year’s campaign”. Wayne Smith, Huron Campaign Co-Chair also shared his enthusiasm by adding: “This is a great community that deserves everything we can do to keep it that way and make it better and make the difference that we can”.
