SureStart Hosting “Start in Oxford – Youth Entrepreneurship Conference”
The SureStart Program will be hosting a “Start in Oxford – Youth Entrepreneurship Conference” for grade 12 students in Oxford County. The conference is an opportunity for youth in Oxford County to develop business planning skills and understand what it means to be an entrepreneur. Local high schools, representing the various regions of Oxford County, will participate in this one day event. Honours Business Administration candidates from the Ivey School of Business and students from the Fanshawe College Business Program have generously offered to facilitate the learning sessions. Using the business canvas model, student teams will develop a product or service and participate in a pitch competition. Local entrepreneurs will judge the competition and award prizes to the top 3 pitches. The Business Trade Show Exhibition will offer a chance for students to interact with, and learn what services are offered from 8 organizations that support small businesses. Fusion Youth Centre and the SureStart program are excited to bring this initiative to Oxford County.
