New Medical Officer of Health for Elgin St. Thomas Public Health

The Board of Health of Elgin St. Thomas Public Health is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Joyce Lock as its new Medical Officer of Health for St. Thomas and Elgin County effective December 1, 2014. Dr. Lock’s previous work includes leadership as the Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine as well as the Medical Director for the Halton Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Centre, both at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington.

Dr. Lock obtained her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Toronto and has developed her passion for public health and preventative medicine through her experiences across a variety of health units. Most recently, Dr. Lock has completed her Fellowship in Public Health and Preventative Medicine working at Halton, Niagara and Hamilton Public Health.

“The Board of Health is excited to welcome Dr. Lock to Elgin St. Thomas Public Health. She brings a passion and enthusiasm for the delivery of public health services which will greatly benefit St. Thomas and Elgin County residents. We are delighted to have her join the public health team”, says Jack Couckuyt, Chair, Board of Health.
