HPHA Volunteers an Integral Part of the Health Care Team!

Volunteering is at the core of what makes the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) special. With over 400 volunteers currently devoting their time to our four hospital sites, they continue a tradition that has endured for many years.

“Volunteers of HPHA truly make a positive impact on the experience of our patients and their families and are an integral part of our health care team,” says Cheryl Hunt, Corporate Lead Volunteer Services. “Not only do they support and complement the work of our professional staff, they also provide hospitality and fundraising services that are vital to the everyday operations of each of the hospital sites.”

Both a rewarding and enlightening experience, our volunteers’ compassion and generous contribution of time is making a difference in the lives of our patients and families.

“Whether greeting patients with a warm smile, lending a calming voice, or supporting loved ones, every time one of the HPHA’s dedicated volunteers interacts with a patient or family member, it improves the patient experience,” states HPHA President & CEO Andrew Williams.

National Volunteer Week, April 12 - 18, is a time to recognize and celebrate the millions of Canadian volunteers for their gracious donations of time and energy. It is Canada’s largest celebration of volunteers, volunteerism and civic participation.

“As we recognize and celebrate the incredible efforts of volunteers across the country, HPHA would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all of our volunteers!” says Hunt. “We would like our volunteers to know how much we appreciate the work they do, each and every day they are in our hospitals and out in our communities. From the boardroom to the bedside, our capable and caring volunteers embody HPHA’s values of trust, respect, fairness and compassion.”

“Caring, compassionate volunteers giving of their time, quite simply, makes the HPHA a stronger organization,” Williams concludes.
