Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board
Catholic Education Week - May 3-8, 2015

During the week of May 3 to May 8, 2015 the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board will celebrate the significant contribution that Catholic Education has made to the community, the province and to Canada. Our Catholic Graduate Expectations challenge students to articulate in society those fundamental values that underpin Catholic education.

The theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week is: Catholic Education: Exploring Paths of Joy

Our Catholic schools are sacred places of growth. Small kindergarten students grow into being teenagers; grade nine students grow into young adults. We all grow both in age and wisdom. As Catholics we also grow in faith. We nurture our faith through prayer, knowledge and living in a vibrant Catholic community. Our students are nurtured to understand God’s calling to a life of service.

There are five sub-themes, one for each day of Catholic Education Week and they are aimed at helping staff and students to reflect more fully on what Exploring Paths of Joy asks of them.

The five sub-themes are:

Day 1:        Walking Together and Sharing our Story
            Day 2:        Opening the Scriptures
Day 3:        Welcoming Others to the Table
Day 4:        Recognizing Jesus in the Breaking of the Bread
Day 5:        Proclaiming the Good News

Catholic Education Week is marked by special activities at all grade levels, including prayer celebrations and service activities.  We would like to invite you to visit our school(s) during this special week and to participate in activities and share in the excellent student achievements that will be highlighted as we celebrate Catholic Education Week 2015.
