Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Prescribes Free Wi-Fi for Patients & Visitors

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) is happy to announce the launch of free wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) for patients and visitors. The service is currently available at the Stratford General Hospital Site with plans to roll out to the Clinton, St. Marys and Seaforth Hospital Sites by the end of July.

The free Wi-Fi provides patients and their visitors with secure, easy-to-use high-speed broadband Internet access to help make their stay more comfortable. Using the Wi-Fi, patients can remain connected to friends and family with email and social media while also being able to search the Internet, etc. from their hospital bed or from a waiting room.

“This is a great benefit to our patients and their visitors who can now enjoy free, easy-to-use wireless broadband at our Stratford Site. Free Wi-Fi is one more way we provide an exceptional experience along with, compassionate high quality health care,” said John Brennan, Director of Information Technology for the Alliance.

The service is provided through the following network name: HPHAGuest. After connecting to this network an Internet browser of choice (e.g. Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, etc.) needs to be opened and HPHA’s Terms of Usage need to be agreed to. Please note that signal strength may be weaker in certain areas of the hospital and during peak usage periods.

Vice President of Partnerships & Patient Experience, Anne Campbell added, “Providing patients and their loved ones access to the Internet to stay in touch with family and friends is of utmost importance to the HPHA. We have a number of out-patient programs where patients are here for many hours receiving treatment and they told us it was important for them to stay connected with their work environment and social networks while they are spending time with us.”
