Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
Seaforth Site Celebrates New Communication Stations

On June 23, 2015 Staff, volunteers and community members gathered to celebrate the newly renovated Complex Continuing Care / Rehabilitation Unit Communication Station and Emergency Room Waiting Area and Communication Station at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) - Seaforth Community Hospital (SCH) site.

Communication Stations function as a centralized work area that acts as the communication centre for both administrative and clinical tasks associated with patient care. Multiple members of the healthcare staff occupy this space and it also serves as a point of contact for both patients and visitors.

These renovations reflect HPHA’s commitment to providing collaborative care that is patient and family focused. The improved design of these stations will support work flow processes, computerization, integration of technology, communication of caregivers and optimal patient outcomes.

Quotes from HPHA Staff

“The official opening of our new Communication Stations is a tremendous reflection of the dedication of our entire healthcare team. The investments we are making, whether in technology or facility improvements are a reflection both of the generosity of our community and of the commitment of the HPHA to four strong sites.”

— Andrew Williams, President & CEO

“The Communication Stations refresh is an example of our culture where the voice of the patient and the voice of the staff co-create the way we deliver care and services. It reflects our commitment to patient and family centred care and creating excellent work environments for our staff through a collaborative process.” Anne Campbell, Vice President Partnerships & Patient Experience, Seaforth Site Administrator
“The new communication station allows for privacy, but staff can always see if there is someone requiring assistance. It also allows our staff to work efficiently as a collaborative care team for our patients and family members.”

— Mary Helen Dale, Manager Complex Continuing Care & Rehabilitation

“The staff and physicians were very flexible in working in, through and around all of the renovations, as well as the patients who also accommodated the many changes. Positive comments about this new space from our patients and their families validate the pride we feel in the evolution of our new Communication Stations.”

— Shirley Veenendaal, Program Director Emergency Services, Critical Care and Specialty Services
