Alzheimer Society celebrates 20 Years of Coffee Break
Join the Alzheimer Society of Perth County for the 20th annual Coffee Break.
For 20 years now, people have asked, what is Coffee Break? And what does it have to do with Alzheimer's disease? Great questions!
Coffee Break is a chance to get friends, family, colleagues, or whomever you like to spend your precious time with, together and enjoy a social gathering where each person can make a donation to a great cause - supporting programs for people affected by dementia right here in Perth County.
That's it, it's that simple and best of all it’s fun. It’s a great opportunity to unwind for a short break and appreciate the company you share. Over the years, we've had people who say, "Coffee...? But I don't drink coffee.” But for all you creatives out there, you can't be stopped by an aversion to the coffee bean.
We've seen some great ideas to replace the 'Coffee' portion of Coffee Break. Here's one, a Mad Hatter Tea Party - where all the guest dressed up in Alice in Wonderland costumes and played card games - and made their donation to the Alzheimer Society. How about a bake sale at your local community club? Coffee Hour with your congregation community? A lemonade stand at a fall fair? Book clubs - we'll even supply the coffee - you just bring the books! The options really are endless, and every social opportunity you take part in helps to decrease your risk of developing dementia.
It's really that easy - just get creative - do whatever suits you and your friends. And take lots of pictures because we love to share what our fabulous supporters are doing in the name of supporting your local Alzheimer Society chapter.
Plus, because it's the 20th year of Coffee Break, every host that registers to host his/her Coffee Break enters the draw to win a Keurig/Tassimo machine and a McCafe prize package.
So don't wait, let us know you're in to host a Coffee Break. You can host anytime this fall that suits you best! We'll send you your host kit that includes coffee, donation box, materials about Coffee Break and educational materials about Alzheimer's disease and ways to decrease your risk of developing dementia.
