Help London Win the Grand Prize through Kraft Project Play Contest

Hey London – team up with a White Oaks community group and the City to win a refurbished basketball court!

Refurbishing the outdoor basketball court in White Oaks Park was selected as one of the four finalists in the Kraft Project Play contest. The winning project will receive $250,000.

The next step: have a great community celebration kickoff in White Oaks Park on August 12 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to drum up support and to spread the word. Kraft Canada will be providing a free BBQ, music, crafts, entertainment, games as well as a cheque presentation of the $25,000 for being one of the finalists.

Special guests Kate Beirness (TSN) and Morris Peterson (former NBA Toronto Raptors star player) will be in attendance for the presentation.

Then on August 17 and 18 help us seal the deal. The winner will be chosen through an online contest – the finalist with the most votes online wins. Over those two days you can go to the project website and click on the vote button as many times as you’d like. The winner will be announced in the evening of August 21 live on TSN.

The plan for London would be to resurface the court, add new rims, as well as trees and an improved garbage collection system.  If we can rally together and vote to achieve the $250,000 prize, the options for the basketball court and the park really grow!  The community would come together to decide what improvements and additions should be included and how to best use the prize.

“It is privileged to live in a community made of up strong neighbourhoods and engaged citizens,” said Mayor Matt Brown. “The White Oaks Park basketball court will provide a safe place for children of all ages to get active and enjoy the sport. Congratulations to everyone involved in this great project.”
