St Joseph's Health Care London
Hills coming alive with music
London, Ontario – On Sept. 11, patients at St. Joseph’s Parkwood Institute will be rocking to tunes from AC/DC, Van Halen and the Rolling Stones.
“Many of our patients are unable to attend concerts like Rock the Park because of their complex medical needs,” explains therapeutic recreation specialist Judy Beitz. “By bringing their music to us, the band RBC/DC is donating their time and talent to provide a special afternoon for young and young at heart patients,” adds music therapist Jill Kennedy-Tufts.
The acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex care, stroke and amputee care areas serve many younger patients who thoroughly enjoy rock music.
“The band is a fun way to give something back to the community,” says RBC/DC’s lead guitarist Adam Bain. “It is very rewarding for us to bring our music to these patients.”
When: Friday, September 11 at 2pm Where: Parkwood Institute 550 Wellington Road, London – outdoors at the back of Main Building (weather permitting); rain location: auditorium
