Ontario Opening New and Improved Schools This Fall
School Year Starts With New Facilities for Ontario Students
Students from across Ontario will benefit this fall from new schools, additions and renovations that will support student achievement and well-being for generations to come
Over the next few months, at least 21 new schools along with nine major additions and renovations will open their doors thanks to a nearly $360 million investment from the Ontario government and extensive planning by local school boards. These new projects will provide improved facilities and enhanced learning opportunities for thousands of students while supporting the needs of communities throughout the province.
Giving students the best possible learning environment is part of the government's plan for Ontario. The four-part plan is building Ontario up by investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure savings plan.

- Since 2003, the province has invested about $12.9 billion in school infrastructure, including nearly 725 new schools and more than 700 additions and renovations.
- Over the next 10 years, the province plans to provide school boards with more than $11 billion to help build new schools in areas of high growth, improve the condition of existing schools, and invest in projects to reduce surplus space through school consolidations.
- In April 2015, the province announced $120 million in new funding dedicated to building safe, high quality, licensed child care spaces in schools across the province.
