United Way Announces 4 million Goal over the Next Three Years

You Make Change Possible: United Way supporters celebrated the 2015 campaign on Friday, September 11th at the annual Kick-Off luncheon.  A new three year goal of $4 million as well as the 2015 goal of $1 275 000 million, was enthusiastically announced by the campaign chair, Andrew Williams.  This year’s goal is $105,000 more than last year’s goal of $1,170,000, in large part because of some special projects in North Perth.

“This is an extremely exciting day for the United Way and, more importantly the residents of Huron and Perth,” stated Campaign Chair Andrew Williams. “Our goals, both this year and over the three years of the campaign are a reflection of the needs across our region. Through the generosity, commitment and support that the United Way and all charities enjoy from our community, we will meet our goal and be an even stronger community as a result,” he said.

Ryan Erb, Executive Director explained the idea behind a three year campaign, “Donors will still have opportunity to give each year but for the first time they can pledge over a three year period. With the help of our donors, Supported Partners will be able to count on United Way funding for a three year period”.

This opens the door for major gift investments connecting one or more focused issues matching fundraising with longer term community investment goals.

Erb was excited to report on the new Special Project Campaign Kick-off in Listowel, on September 10th,2015.  “The money raised in North Perth will go directly toward setting up a new youth mental health program called Crossing Bridges and other services already supported in the region.”  The North Perth goal announced was $135,000 and is included in the $1 275 000 million dollar goal for the wider region.

Nelson Couto, VP Resource Development and Communications, shared the campaigns’ theme, You make Change Possible.  “It’s about United Way’s valuable local supporters, our volunteers, leader donors, workplaces, supported partners and the overall community.”  “It is you, the community, that makes change possible”.
