Mobile Month Photo Contest Encourages Safe Active Transportation

Perth County – Throughout October, the Perth District Health Unit is holding a Facebook contest called Mobile Month: Safe and Active Transportation Photo Contest.

Mobile Month encourages Perth County residents to share a photo of themselves using safe and active transportation in October for a chance to win big! The grand prize is a new bike from Ross’ Bike Works. Second place prize is a Fitbit (two to be won), and third prize is a $100 gift certificate for sporting goods.

Why Safe Active Transportation?

Active transportation is any form of human-powered transportation, such as walking, cycling and in-line skating. You can use active transportation to get to and from work, school, errands or recreational and leisure activities. It’s also important to be active safely, which includes using helmets properly, using cross-walks, wearing visible clothing, etc.

By encouraging an active transportation-friendly community, we create communities that:
  • Are healthier and more vibrant
  • Are welcoming and inclusive
  • Offer good quality of life
  • May have higher property values
  • Foster happier and healthier residents/employees
  • Are good for the local economy

How to Enter:

From October 1-31, take a photo that shows you and/or family and friends using active travel safely. Like the Facebook page www.facebook.com/mobilemonth and upload your photo(s) for a chance to win! Contest rules and regulations are on the Facebook page.

The contest prizes are courtesy of the City of Stratford’s Active Transportation Advisory Committee.
