An Exciting New Community Initiative: The Central Family Apartments
Fresh Start is excited to announce a new relationship with The Family Central in Aylmer that expands Fresh Start's services beyond our traditional maternity supports. Together, we are developing a unique apartment community that will offer guidance, mentoring, and support for those looking to hold tight to a hand up. By building intentional relationships with people dedicated to supporting others and those looking to build a better future, The Family Central Apartments will serve as a source of hope.
Lori Wall, Executive Director at Fresh Starts says, "Fresh Start is incredibly excited for the opportunity to work with The Central and assist in the Aylmer community once again. We desire to use our skills to offer a helping hand within the community. It's an opportunity we couldn't pass up as we realized we had a shared goal of improving lives and offering hope and a future through supportive housing."
Dave and Mary Thiessen, owners of The Central Restaurant and the building that will house the apartments, weren't in the market for such a venture. When the opportunity was presented to them, they saw it as, "a chance to make a significant impact in our community."
Residents of The Family Central Apartments, located above the restaurant, will be partnered with Intentional Neighbours - also residents - who serve as mentors. In addition, Fresh Start will provide staff who will meet regularly to offer guidance and support.
Fresh Start and The Family Central Restaurant will be hosting an open house for the community, supporters, and those interested in becoming sponsors on June 4 at The Family Central Restaurant from 11:30am until 8pm. During that time, staff, volunteers, and board members will be present with displays and answering your questions. Tours of new apartments will also be offered throughout the day.
