Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital
TDMH welcomes Chinese visitor from sister hospital
Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) is hosting a visitor from Tillsonburg's city in China. Gaby Yang Teng, from Hengshui City, will be shadowing Crystal Houze, TDMH Integrated President and CEO, along with our Senior Leadership team members, during a three-week internship. Yang Teng has acted as translator through the years during various visits between the Town of Tillsonburg/TDMH and Hengshui City.
TDMH has a special relationship with not only Hengshui City, but also their local hospital. Harrison International Peace Hospital, which was named in honour of a local Tillsonburg physician, Tillson Harrison.
"Gaby is interested in hospital administration and contacted the hospital several months ago about the possibility of job shadowing me for a few weeks," explained Crystal Houze, Integrated President and CEO. "We are please to offer her this learning opportunity."
Tillson Harrison was a Canadian physician, from Tillsonburg, who assisted the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in China during the 1940s and 1950s, saving many lives. Harrison is widely honoured in China as a National Hero. Hengshui City named the Harrison International Peace Hospital in his honour.
TDMH has partnered with the Town of Tillsonburg in helping to welcome Gaby and show her around the local area. "Gaby's infectious passion and spirit have been instrumental in the development of positive relationships between the Town of Tillsonburg and Hengshui for the past nine years. We are pleased to help facilitate the opportunity to further both her personal and professional experiences in Tillsonburg," commented Mayor Stephen Molnar.
