Community Mental Health Partners collaborating for Mental Health Week 2016 with #GETLOUDOXFORD
This Mental Health Week, Oxford County is being asked to #GETLOUDOXFORD and help raise awareness about mental health and stop the stigma that surrounds mental illness and suicide. Events are being hosted in Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg from May 1 to May 7. Activities include open houses, health fairs, BBQs, and an opportunity for the community to learn more about what services and supports are available in Oxford County. This year, 25 community partners have collaborated to host activities and events during Mental Health Week and to help raise awareness of mental health.
"Our theme for Mental Health Week this year is, 'Your Community Cares about Your Mental Health'," says Lynn Wardell, Director - Crisis, Outreach & Specialized Services at Canadian Mental Health Association Oxford. "Having 25 community partners come to the table and collaborate on the various initiatives for Mental Health Week is very powerful and it demonstrates just how much this community does care about the people who live here. We have made tent cards to help raise awareness about Mental Health Week and these will be located at restaurants and public spaces across Oxford County. The back of the tent card has all 25 logos and really exemplifies how impactful this kind collaboration is."
