Community Collaboration to Announce London's Living Wage

A collaboration of local business and public sector partners will announce London's Living Wage and the launch of a new website, www.livingwagelondon.ca, where employers can learn more about the voluntary program, at a news conference Friday, May 13th at the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC).

A Living Wage is different from the minimum wage and is calculated based on a range of local factors and influences. Each community's Living Wage reflects what earners who live there need to earn so that their household can meet its basic needs. A Living Wage ensures families are not under severe financial stress, promotes social inclusion, and helps families achieve a basic level of economic security.

Friday's announcement will feature speakers and guests who have collaborated on the Living Wage London project and employers who pay their employees a Living Wage.
