United Way Perth-Huron
United Way Perth-Huron Annual General Meeting: Celebrating, You Make Change Possible

Our AGM this year focused on the successful “renovation” of the United Way. We are still the same organization, but now renewed, refreshed and better equipped to take on the challenges that lie ahead in our community.

2015-2016 was a year of:

  • GROWTH - Seeing our campaign increase by about 5% year over year as we introduced major donor opportunities and a project-based campaign in North Perth.
  • CHANGE - Implementing the community impact plan ….including new outcomes for our supported partners to consider when applying …. our 3 year investment model and our three year fundraising model.
  • IMPACT - Seeing several companies increase their wages because of the living wage report, launching the connect youth mobile website, and preparing for the launch of a new online volunteer centre –   i volunteer Perth-Huron.

Ryan Erb, Executive Director shared “By implementing our Community Impact Plan, I’m pleased to move ahead with many of our long standing partners and some new ones who we can say hello to.”

Hello to:

Another Huron addition is Paul Nichol, a self –professed champion of rural Canada.  Over the years, Paul has worked with over 200 partner organizations on over 300 different community projects, including piloting many new rural development tools such as 10 Steps to Community Action; Business Retention & Expansion and 1st Impressions. In addition, Paul has been instrumental in building new rural development vehicles such as the Lake Huron Learning Collaborative, the Huron Economic Development Partnership; and most recently, the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health.

Joining the board from the Town of St. Marys is Lisa Lawrance, an enthusiastic and motivated HR Professional with a proven track record of succeeding in a fast paced environment and who takes pride in finding the right people for the job and setting them up for success. Building relationships and gaining the trust at all levels of the organization is one of her strong suits that has served her well in her career.

Bringing the voice of local unions to the UWPH board is Jennifer Sweedler. Her volunteer experience includes working with disenfranchised youth, the elderly community, those living in insalubrious housing conditions, and worker advocacy.
