We’re Growing! Thehealthline.ca expands its reach

Three years after it was launched, thehealthline.ca is attracting thousands of visitors a day, and is poised for significant expansion, both in content and geographic coverage.

The website, which links people with accurate, up-to-date information about health care and wellness services in London and Middlesex, was created by the Health Line Alliance, a strategic partnership between Community Care Access Centre of London and Middlesex (CCAC), St. Joseph’s Health Care London, London Health Sciences Centre, and the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

In 2004, visitors to the website viewed more than one million pages, a 52% increase from the number of “page views” in 2003.

  • Beginning in mid-February, the site will be the new home for Information London, and feature an online directory of social services sponsored by the City of London. Thehealthline.ca will also continue to publish Information London’s print publication, Help Yourself Through Hard Times.

  • Also coming soon is a special directory of London children’s health and social services available in French, sponsored by the Virtual Team Project.

  • Within weeks, the website will expand to serve people living in Oxford County, part of a staged regional expansion that will ultimately include Elgin, Perth and Huron Counties. The site will deliver information local to each county, while also providing easy access to region-wide services.

Michael Robbins, Project Coordinator of thehealthline.ca, is excited about the website’s potential. “We’ve got a model that works,” he says. “Now we’re building on that success to serve a wide range of information needs in our communities. The future looks bright.”
