Virtual Urgent Care Across Ontario is just a Phone Call or Click Away

During the busy summer break, Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) reminds Ontarians that connecting with a health-care provider for urgent care is quick and easy, whether you're traveling to a cottage or enjoying the beach or a staycation.

Virtual urgent care appointments for children and adults are covered by OHIP. All you need is a computer, smartphone, or tablet with access to email and the internet for same-day appointments.

Whenever possible a family doctor is the first recommended point of access for care, however a virtual urgent care provider may be the best choice when a primary care provider is not able to provide immediate medical attention for non-life-threatening issues, or if the patient does not have a family doctor. Book a secure video chat or phone call with an urgent care provider at urgentcareontario.ca or by calling 1-844-227-3844.

Media availability:

On Thursday, July 18 – media is invited to speak to Dr. Rod Lim, Medical Director, Paediatric Emergency Department, Children’s Hospital at LHSC, or Donna Johnson, Senior Director, Acute Operations, General Internal Medicine and Emergency Services, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton – about the virtual urgent care program and the importance of this growing service.

Interviews can be arranged via phone, ZOOM or in person with either spokesperson.
