Middlesex-London Health Unit
Citi Plaza Dental Clinic Doubles Capacity with New Operatories

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is pleased to announce the completion of its newly expanded dental operatories at the Health Unit’s Citi Plaza location. This is a major milestone in addressing the significant waitlist of 455 seniors seeking services from the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP), also ensuring that future appointments are scheduled within more reasonable timeframes.

This project, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, expands MLHU services and better meets the needs of the local community. Construction of the new operatories was completed approximately one month following the receipt of necessary permits. The new operatories are equipped with state-of-the-art dental equipment and support the work of one full-time and two part-time dentists.

“Good oral health, supported by quality and timely dental services, supports our nutrition, our sense of self, and our overall physical health. We know that our wait times were too long, so we are thrilled that with this expansion we can more quickly meet the oral health needs of local seniors,” says Donna Kosmack, Program Manager, Oral Health and Clinical Support Services.

While a new Canadian Dental Care Program has been introduced, most individuals will still incur costs. The OSCDP offers free services with a small co-pay for dentures, addressing the full scope of seniors' dental needs. MLHU also offers free dental hygiene programs for children.

The expanded London location is complemented by a newly built dental clinic in Strathroy which serves the residents of Middlesex County and officially opened in July 2023.
