Service Description: Various programs provide supports to help older adults maintain independence while remaining in their home and community

Programs and services include:
  • Friendly Visiting/Telephone Checks
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Luncheons
  • Transportation (including accessible van)
  • Counseling for seniors
  • Assisted Living (Assisted Living Information)
  • Caregiver Support
  • Regularly Scheduled Programs and Activities
  • Special Events
 
Caregiver Support - One-on-one counselling, education and support services for formal and informal caregivers * information related to specific diseases and conditions * information and referral services
 
Drop-In - Drop-in programming providing opportunities for social activities and a meal
 
Friendly Visiting/Telephone Checks - Regular volunteer visits and/or phone calls to seniors and people with disabilities who live alone, to provide companionship and reassurance  * volunteers are one-to-one with clients * visits generally occur in the client's home, but the volunteer can also take the client on a shopping or banking trip or to a social or cultural event
 
Meals on Wheels - Hot meals delivered, three days per week on Mon, Wed and Fri at lunch time
 
West Elgin Transportation Network - Non-emergency transportation to local medical appointments and regular activities such as shopping or visiting friends and family * volunteer drivers use their own vehicles * all rides are dependent on volunteer availability
