Independent review board which handles appeals involving health care services in Ontario
Decisions that can be appealed or reviewed by the board include:
- OHIP coverage
- eligibility and amount of community services
- orders of Medical Officers of Health and public health inspectors
- orders and decisions regarding long-term care homes
- decisions regarding the licensing of independent health facilities
Board handles reviews and appeals under 12 different laws:
- Ambulance Act
- Commitment to the Future of Medicare Act, 2004
- Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act
- Health Facilities Special Orders Act
- Health Insurance Act
- Health Protection and Promotion Act
- The Connecting Care Act, 2019 (formerly the Home Care and Community Services Act)
- Immunization of School Pupils Act
- Integrated Community Health Services Act (formerly the Independent Health Facilities Act)
- Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act
- Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (formerly the Long-Term Care Homes Act)
- Private Hospitals Act
