Elgin St. Thomas Public Health is Moving!

“It is with tremendous excitement that our Board of Health confirms that Elgin St. Thomas Public Health is moving to its new home on Talbot Street,“ announced Board Chair, David Warden.

Beginning February 4, 2014, the new 30,000 sq. ft. energy efficient building at 1230 Talbot St. in St. Thomas will be open as the new headquarters for public health programs and services.

After 23 years at the 99 Edward St. location, construction of a new facility lasted just over one year. While ESTPH staff continues to provide services until January 30 on Edward St. - serious packing is underway. All the while, at the new location contractors continue adding finishing touches on the much anticipated building. A structure built from the ground up to meet the communities’ health needs. The new facility will leave room for growth and it will alleviate the cramped quarters at the current location. The building also allows for increased efficiencies both in energy and resources. The site itself allows for the future building expansion and addition of programs and services when necessary. St. Thomas Transit will provide bus service to the new Health Unit effective February 3, 2014.

The new headquarters will address many priorities for local health. The design includes ample community meeting spaces, as well as up to date clinical services and health resources. The location is purpose built, maximizing accessibility and addressing ongoing and emerging demands for health services. You can see for yourself as more information on services you currently access and updates are posted on the Elgin St. Thomas Public Health Facebook page and website, www.elginhealth.on.ca.
