World Breastfeeding Week Being Marked Locally with Stories and Celebrations
World Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated across Canada and in Perth County from October 1 to 7, 2014.
Breastfeeding Stories
In September, the Health Unit ran a contest to promote the importance of breastfeeding, asking people to submit stories about what breastfeeding has meant to them. Throughout World Breastfeeding Week, the submitted stories will be posted on the Breastfeeding Buddies Perth County Facebook page and on the Perth District Health Unit website.
Celebrations
Mothers in Perth County who are breastfeeding, along with their families, are invited to join the celebrations during the Breastfeeding Buddies programs in Stratford, Listowel and St. Marys. Breastfeeding Buddies are drop-in groups that meet monthly. Breastfeeding Buddies is also an online Facebook group hosted by local parent, Tanya Chambers.
