United Way Project, PF Solutions, Receives Community Foundation Grant
PF Solutions, a project of United Way Perth-Huron, is thrilled to announce that they are the recipients of a Stratford Perth Community Foundation grant. A grant that was made possible through the Melanson Family Fund a fund held in trust with the Stratford Perth Community Foundation.
PF Solutions is a work experience program that assists its participants in the development of office skills and proactive job search techniques through a “learning by doing” approach. Opened in September 2011, the practice firm’s goal is to bridge the gap between education/skills and employment.
The grant has enabled PFS to purchase a server and software for streamlined office networking capabilities, creating the exact experience the participants require to increase their office skills. An additional server has been purchased for specific IT skills training. Two projectors have also been acquired to assist with workshops and training.
“Participants can access files, share calendars and network seamlessly”, explains Susan Faber, Manager of PF Solutions. “It is a welcome upgrade from the desktop we were using as a server. The complete IT package that we were able to purchase is an upgrade from our original intention, thanks to Blackcreek Technologies, who not only waived their consulting fees, but came up with an individualized package specifically for our needs.”
Blackcreek Technologies met with PF Solutions to ascertain their exact requirements, and were able to not only provide one, but two servers within the grant parameters. Blackcreek was also able to build into the package essential backup capabilities through two external drives. “We have a close partnership with United Way of Perth-Huron, so to be able to be of assistance to one of their projects and to the community is something we are happy to do”, mentioned Jonathan Koch, Manager of Blackcreek Technologies.
With the support of the Melanson Family Fund and Stratford Perth Community Foundation, along with the technological experience and generosity of Black Creek Technology and the ongoing support of the United Way of Perth-Huron, PF Solutions has their IT covered. Faber concludes, “The servers and projectors are assisting the participants’ needs now and will certainly take us into the future, and the backup capabilities give us the peace of mind we need.”
Stratford Perth Community Foundation has been assisting local groups in Perth County for over 10 years, sharing over $320,000 of local contributions on local projects. PF Solutions is thankful to be one of these local projects.
