Perth District Health Unit Releases 2014 Annual Report

Perth County – The Perth District Health Unit has released its 2014 Annual Report. The report highlights achievements and activities over the past fiscal year. It also shows the Health Unit’s performance in aligning with its Strategic Plan and in meeting the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s standards and accountability agreements.

A feature article in the report compares the health status of Perth County residents with provincial averages on indicators such as smoking, heavy drinking, physical activity and perceived health.

Some highlights of Health Unit activities in 2014 outlined in the report include:

  • New Tanning Bed legislation was introduced and enforced
  • Immunization records were reviewed for 12,402 students due to changes to the Immunization of School Pupils Act
  • 4,301 children were screened by dental hygienists in schools and clinics
  • Residents were urged to “Drive Only Never Text” with a campaign
  • 2,246 home visits to families were completed through the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.
