South West CCAC to Honour Community Caregivers in Owen Sound

Heroes in the Home is an annual recognition awards program sponsored by the South West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), in partnership with the SouthWesthealthline.ca. Each year, CCAC patients and all others involved in home and community care, have the chance to nominate a special caregiver – whether a family member, friend, volunteer, or a health care professional – to receive a special caregiver recognition award for going above and beyond the call of duty.

“These nominees are dedicated, compassionate individuals who often go about their  efforts quietly with little or no fanfare,” said South West CCAC CEO Sandra Coleman. “Their sacrifice, kindness and commitment is truly amazing. It is our privilege to recognize these very special individuals.”

This year, the Owen Sound ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, October 9 at the Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club.

Last year, more than 500 people attended ceremonies throughout Owen Sound, Stratford and London. Developed in the South West, the Heroes in the Home program has been recognized as an innovative leading practice by Accreditation Canada and is currently used by numerous CCACs across Ontario.
