Stratford Public Library
STARR Program a Success
The 2nd annual Summer Teen and Adult Reading Rewards program at the Stratford Public Library has concluded and was a resounding success. STARR celebrates recreational reading, which is important for people to connect with ideas, new experiences and other people.
SPL wishes to warmly thank the following local businesses and organizations for their support:
Boomers Gourmet Fries, Bradshaws, The Buzzstop, County Foods Co, Covet the Community Closet, Dukes Downtown Grill, GoodLife Fitness, Jenn & Larry’s Brittle n’ Shakes, Long & McQuade, Slave to the Grind, Stratford Fencing Ontario, The Stratford Festival, Stratford-Perth YMCA, Stratford Symphony Orchestra, The Wee Book & Photo Shop, World Gym, and York Street Kitchen.
These organizations generously donated nearly $3000 in prizes that helped motivate teens and adults to read more than 3060 items over the summer. Teen participation increased by an impressive 42%, and 1 in 5 readers won a prize just for reading books, magazines, ebooks, and audiobooks.
Congratulations to all of our participants and winners! We hope to see you again next year for STARR 2015!
