Stratford Public Library Celebrates Ontario Public Library Week with Food for Fines
Starting this Sunday, October 19 and continuing through Saturday October 25 library customers can donate non-perishable foods to have some of their fines waived. While this program will benefit our customers even more importantly it is a way for us to help the community. Patrons may have up to $20.00 of their overdue fines waived when they donate non-perishable, non-expired food items.
The food collected this year will go to The Community Food Bank through their partner St. James Anglican Church. The members of this church parish with support from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the Huron Food Distribution Centre and The Local have been providing help to the community for more than 10 years and support 2500 people including many children annually.
“Our philosophy is simple. We are in there to support people who are having trouble making ends meet.”
—Peter Mussen, St. James Anglican Church
